Itinerary

Day 1: Departure Marrakech

Arrival before 4 pm

Atlas Odyssey representative will meet you at the airport. The transfer will take you to the hotel. At 4:00 pm, meet your guide and fellow travelers for a briefing in the lobby, followed by a Medina food safari through the souks. Enjoy your first Moroccan feast at the Djamaa el Fna square.

Day 2 : Ait ben Haddou — Dades

Start early from Marrakech towards the beautiful Dades Gorges via Tizi Ntichka pass (2260m). Take photo stops and stretch your legs along the way. Lunch in Ouarzazate, then continue to Skoura Oasis and Kasbah Ameridhl before reaching the Dades Gorges for the night.

Day 3 : Dades — Toudgha — Merzouga

After breakfast, head to Toudgha Gorge for a short walk and tea. Continue to the golden dunes of Merzouga, where you will enjoy a camel ride and admire the sunset. End the day with dinner and music under the stars.

Day 4 : Merzouga

Watch the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast. Go on a 4×4 jeep safari to explore the desert, visit Berber villages, and enjoy Gnaoua music in Khamlia village. Relax in the afternoon by the pool or visit a local farm.

Day 5: Merzouga — Roses Valley

After breakfast, visit a fossil factory in Arfoud before heading to Kelaat M’Gouna in the Roses Valley. Spend the night in a traditional Berber house (gite) and experience the Berber lifestyle.

Day 6: Roses Valley

Spend the day hiking a 10km circuit through the Berber villages of the Roses Valley. In the evening, learn how to prepare a traditional goat tagine for dinner.

Day 7: Marrakech

Depart from the M’goun Valley and visit Ait Benhaddou, a famous UNESCO site. After lunch in Telouet, continue through the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. Enjoy a free evening and a farewell dinner.

Day 1: Departure Marrakech 

Arrival before 4 pm

Atlas Odyssey representative to meet you at the Airport. the airport transfer will drop you off at the Hotel. 4:00 pm, early evening to meet your guide and newfound buddies for a briefing in the lobby and lace up your shoes for the Medina food safari through the maze of the souk. Soak in a riot of scents floating through the air as you gather for your first Moroccan feast on the Djamaa el Fna square.

Day 2 : Ait ben Haddou — Dades

starts early in the morning. You will leave from Marrakech towards the Beautiful gorges of Dades through the highest mountain pass in the Atlas  “Tizi Ntichka (2260)”. Your guide will call outs for spectacular stops for photos and legs stretching and lunch will take place in the Ouarzazat. in the afternoon, drive to Skoura Oasis, home to several privately owned kasbahs. Here you’ll visit the Kasbah Ameridhl, with its extravagant decorations and mud-brick fortifications before continuing to reach the spectacular Dades gorges late evening for tonight in a guesthouse.

Day 3 :Dades — Toudgha — Merzouga

After breakfast, it is time for the great Sahara. The first stop will be at the Toudgha Gorge for a glass of mint tea and a short walk through the limestone deep canyon. This wonderful site is also the delight of climbing enthusiasts. Jump into the bus for the next exciting stop in lkhorbat restaurant for lunch and Berber museum visit. After lunch continue to the golden dunes of Merzouga. It is a village that marks the beginning of the Sahara dunes. Put on you scarfs to enjoy a camel ride. Find the highest dune and admire the sunset and the colors in perpetual evolution. come back for dinner and some music under the stars to celebrate the big day around the fire.

Day 4 :Merzouga

Find the highest dune by the camp for the morning sunrise over the golden sand dunes. Have a delicious local breakfast before you go on a 4×4 jeep safari and disconnect from the rest of the world. Enjoy the morning adventure in the desert watching the magical landscapes, isolated Berber villages, oases, dunes and real nomads. We visit the village of Khamlia for some Gnaoua music and tea. In the afternoon, it is your down time to chill by the pool or visit a local farm and learn about the agriculture of the Sahara.

Day 5:Merzouga — Roses valley  

This is your last chance for an unforgettable sunrise across the desert if you missed it yesterday.  After breakfast, we  drive to Arfoud fusel’s factory  (approximately 40min), for a short learning experience. Continue your journey inland for tonight’s destination, kelaat M’gouna (approximately 4 hours). You will get closer to the customs and lifestyle of the Berber this evening with the night spent in a traditional Berber house called a gite.

Day 6: Roses Valley

 

You have a full day to explore the beauty of this largely untouched Moroccan backcountry. On foot is the best way to discover the natural and man-made landscape and the rural way of life. There is a 10-kilometre circuit that will take about 4 hours. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll walk a trail that undulates slightly here and there, but isn’t too challenging if you have a basic level of fitness. On the walk you’ll pass Berber villages, meeting local Berbers along the way and perhaps having a chance to share a cup of mint tea with some of them. The surrounding mountains and the famous Rose Valley make a sensational setting. In the evening, after a warm shower, dress up like a chef to make you owner goat Tagine for tonight and learn about Moroccan cuisine.

Day 7:Marrakech

Leaving the M’goun Valley today, set off on the fabled ‘Road of 1000 Kasbahs’ head to (approximately Ait Benhaddou. Perched on a hilltop and almost unchanged since the 11th century, Ait Benhaddou is one of Morocco’s most iconic sites. If you think you recognise the place, you probably do, as the town has a long list of film and TV credits, including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones and Gladiator. Enjoy a walk through the winding streets of the old town, making your way to the top of the hill, from where you can enjoy the views across the surrounding plains, join our bus to Telouet town for lunch before we continue our journey for couple hours through the winding roads of the Atlas for Marrakech. Enjoy your free evening in Marrakech and meet up for a farewell dinner in the new town at 7:30 pm.

Day 8:Departure Day  

The southern morocco trip has to come to an end. No activities are planned for today.  Atlas Odyssey team to assist with your departures.
